北京時間10月12日 ，森保世預賽亞洲區第4輪的眼含因被意料比賽當中 ，日本隊2-1力克澳大利亞隊 ，热泪送給了對手首敗 。国歌日本主帥森保一在比賽開始前的打动奏國歌環節被攝影機拍到眼含熱淚，賽後他解釋說 ，比赛這是结果因為自己被國歌打動了 。
“每次唱國歌我都感到激動和自豪 ，出乎我也很自豪今天能帶隊在日本主場比賽 。森保我看到了很多麵國旗 ，眼含因被意料感到了很多人的热泪支持 。當唱起國歌時 ，国歌我的打动眼睛就如往常一樣熱了起來 。今天的比赛比賽壓力很大 ，也非常困難 ，结果但是隊員和工作人員齊心協力 ，做了充分的準備。我想球員們有已經練習好了怎麽去抓住機會 。”森保一說 。
談到本場比賽變陣為4-2-3-1並首發田中碧的決定，森保一表示 ：“我們決定首發那些在訓練和比賽中展現出良好狀態的球員 ，以便發揮我們的優勢。這是一場艱苦的比賽 ，和我預想的結果也不一樣 。球員們沒有放棄去爭奪進入世界杯的資格 ，沒有疲憊的感覺 ，每一次都準備得很好。我認為正是因為我們把一切都投入到了比賽當中 ，才取得了今日的勝利 。今天的勝利非常美妙，贏下一場世預賽是巨大的勝利 ，但接下來還有6場比賽 ，我現在希望能為下一場比賽做好準備 。”
率隊取勝之後 ，森保一也再次上了熱搜 ，上一輪輸球之後他同樣被罵上了熱搜 ，“森保一下課”詞條霸榜很長時間。目前四輪比賽過後 ，日本隊2勝2負積6分 ，暫時排名小組第三 。
