2021年 ，新闻中國足壇最重要的大赛动亿三項賽事全部有蘇州的身影。上賽季蘇州就作為賽區之一承辦了中超聯賽，均落今年的州仅中超聯賽第一階段蘇州將繼續扮演重要角色 。
此前 ，红星户苏廣州足協已經宣布 ，新闻經過中國足協的大赛动亿批準，廣州將承辦新賽季的均落中超 ，並且作為新賽季中超的州仅中超賽區之一。
新賽季中超全程分成三個階段 ，每隊需要打滿30輪 。第一階段賽事分成兩個小段 ，中間的間隙期留給國家隊備戰世界杯亞洲區預選賽40強賽 ，總共打14輪比賽 。第一階段將采用分組雙循環賽製 ，廣州和蘇州賽區將分別承接8支中超球隊的訓練 、比賽 、食宿 。
值得一提的是 ，除中超聯賽外 ，蘇州今年還將承辦男足世預賽以及女足奧運會預選賽附加賽 。
前廣州城俱樂部董事長 、中國足球職業聯盟暫代CEO黃盛華表示 ，廣州賽區舉辦新賽季的中超 ，有望帶動超過10億元的GDP 。黃盛華在媒體座談中透露 ，“新賽季中超聯賽開幕後 ，包括酒店、交通 、宣傳等方麵都將創造巨大的經濟效益 ，保守估計將帶動10億GDP ，對於廣州足球城市形象也有很大的提升。”據《南方都市報》報道 ，中國足球職業聯盟預計新賽季中超將分別為兩大賽區至少創造10億元GDP 。
