今年夏天西漢姆曾有意買斷林加德 ，若林但曼聯要價2500萬英鎊 ，加德這超出了西漢姆的能力。林加德在新賽季隻得留在曼聯，他一直想要努力打動曼聯主帥索爾斯克亞。但林加德本賽季在曼聯依然隻是替補 ，而且隨著C羅 、桑喬的加盟，林加德在隊內的地位進一步下降 。
林加德的合同在明年夏天到期，曼聯不願看到球員免費離隊 ，因此為他提供了一份續約合同，周薪為13.5萬英鎊 。但對於林加德來說 ，接下來的重要目標是希望能隨英格蘭隊參加2022年卡塔爾世界杯 ，為此他必須在俱樂部中獲得更多更穩定的出場機會 。
考慮到林加德在曼聯隊內的現狀 ，林加德可能不會再和曼聯續約 。而曼聯則考慮在冬季轉會期將其出售，並且把對林加德的要價降低到了1500萬英鎊 。目前除了西漢姆之外 ，剛剛易主的紐卡斯爾 、以及萊斯特城等英超球隊都有意林加德 。
