北京時間4月18日 ，支退歐超聯賽宣布正式成立 ，出队超计英超的没出BIG6 、意甲的售股國米 、米蘭與尤文 ，份欧以及西甲的划依皇馬、巴薩和馬競成為了創始球隊 。但是歐超的成立引發了歐足聯以及國際足聯的強烈反對，這些球隊的球員也被威脅會禁止參加國家隊的比賽 。另外 ，一些政要也在公開場合表示反對歐超聯賽。
最終英超6支球隊集體退出 ，隨後馬競、國米、米蘭也宣布退出歐超 ，僅有皇馬 、巴薩以及尤文圖斯三支球隊堅守歐超陣地 。
前不久，歐足聯宣布了對退出的9支球隊的處罰 ，並且表示對皇馬 、巴薩以及尤文三支球隊的處罰程序已經啟動，三支球隊也在官網對歐足聯的做法進行了強烈的抵製 。而在北京時間31日 ，歐超聯賽以違反歐盟競技法為由 ，將歐足聯與國際足聯上訴至歐洲法院 ，歐洲法院目前已受理該案件 。
西班牙媒體《機密報》通過自己的途徑得到了超級聯賽的合同 ，《機密報》表示 ，盡管很多俱樂部宣布退出 ，但他們並未出售自己在超級聯賽的股份。從法律的角度看 ，這場投資協議依然有效力 。這些退出的球隊也沒有在法庭宣布終止合同 ，也就是說 ，超級聯賽所有成員依然還在 ，盡管有不同的說法 ，但其實項目仍在進行。
同時《機密報》還曝光了歐超聯賽12支球隊簽訂合同的當事人 。皇馬方麵是弗洛倫蒂諾 、巴薩是拉波爾塔 、尤文是阿涅利，而國米方麵則是球隊的主席張康陽 。
